Today’s passionate relationship principle (PRP) is Conversations Build Friendship.    When initially thinking about conversation and friendship, it certainly doesn’t sound like a principle of passion.  But, any loving relationship that has joy and longevity should have friendship as its foundation.  Conversation is one of the tools used to build the structure we call Friendship. In fact, one of the significant findings of the national study of successful long-term marriages by Olson, Olson, and Larson (2008) found that couples who have lasting, loving marriages have the characteristics of a good friendship.   Conversations are one of the tools that wise couples use to build a great friendship, which then provides a strong basis for a lasting, loving relationship.   If you were going to spend the rest of your life with someone, wouldn’t you want that person to be your best friend?   Today’s passionate relationship principle (PRP) is Conversations Build Friendship.

Have you and your spouse had any conversations recently that drew you closer to one another?  What was special about those conversations?
